The purple amethyst collar in blue is one of an ongoing collaborative series with sculptor/jeweler Debra Baxter, where the shape of the rope is made in response to the chosen stone/crystal.
This particular piece took many different forms before I hit on the idea of orienting Debra’s portion diagonally, which then led me to the diagonal rope cutting across the face of the necklace and the curling tail that drops from the base. There was no way to predict the final outcome and this is what I especially appreciate about our collaboration; the reliance on intuition and exploration.
